Jesus is the King (because the Wisemen travelled a long way to see the baby who was born to be King)

We all enjoyed exploring our Epiphany theme with stars, both edible and crafty. And making a bird seed feeder (very messy !) as a tribute to lovely Auntie Jean a founder member of MC

Everything was good in the world that God created and gave to humans to look after. Then ....

...The snake asked the woman ‘Did God really tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in the garden?’  Genesis Chapter 3 verse 1

God gave people the job of looking after his world.

Bible verse ‘Then God said, ‘And now we will make human beings…and he placed the human being he had made in the Garden of Eden to take care of it and look after it’ Genesis Chapter 2 verse 15

God made a beautiful world.  Bible Verse ‘God looked at everything he had made, and he was very pleased’ Genesis Chapter 1 verse 31

On this Messy Church we had a wonderful celebration of the good gifts and variety of God’s creation as we worked together with our different skills to welcome the families who came. 

We looked at the time after Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to his disciples and then went back up to heaven

We had great fun in the sun as we met for the last Messy Church of term last Sunday, 29 June. 

BBQ, bubbles, water splashing, birthday cake, songs and crafts to celebrate the Church’s birthday and the special gift of the Holy Spirit.

 There was quite a buzz at our Remembrance Messy Church with lots of children attending and lots of activities (see photos) going on.

Our Bible focus was John Chapter 15 verse 13 The greatest love a person can have for his friends is to give his life for them.

The Bible says The Lord God planted a garden in the East, in a place called Eden. He put the man he had formed in that garden….to care for it and work it.

Janet Phythian from Africa Naturally (a project in Mozambique to encourage people to farm the land sustainably) was with us, talking about how important it is to take care of the soil (hence dirt/gummy worm activity!)

Dirt and Worm cups with instant chocolate pud, milk, oreo biscuits, gummy worms 

Nature Scavenger Hunt 

Teatime food – make your own pizza. 

We had such a lot to be thankful for at Messy Church.  Thank you to all who facilitated great crafts, provided delicious food (including the legendary cranberry and pistachio cookies) and contributed enthusiasm, energy and cheeriness to get term off to a joyful start.

And thank you to our Creator God who gives us His beautiful world (especially easy to appreciate it in this September sunshine) and each other.

Unusually, this Sunday we had Messy Church at 1-2.30 pm to help avoid conflicting with another (birthday) event!   So some lunch was provided

The theme was Harvest – crafts included bread plaits and wheat pictures, There were also a couple of harvest themed games.

Our bible focus was Psalm 67 verses 6-7:  

The land has produced its harvest; God, our God, has blessed us.  God has blessed us; may all peoples everywhere praise him

Our crafts including drum and cymbal making - to accompany the music and singing. And the sun shone for our celebration BBQ!
