Bible Project - Study

Wednesdays evenings resuming
14 April 2021 09:00

Want to know 'why nothing changes under the sun!', or 'who was the man of sorrows?'  Why not join this very welcoming group on Wednesdays at 7.30pm on Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/649637000 where you will be met in a 'waiting room', or contact Bob Seals on 07966 564963 for more details. Sessions continue on the 14th April 2021 for the last few books in the Old Testament.

Jesus' Bible

When Jesus taught the Scriptures in the Temple, he used the Old Testament.

When St. Paul said, ‘All Scripture is God-Breathed…’  at the time the only Scriptures were the Old Testament.

How big is your Bible?

Four Gospels - 27 NT books? .... or 66 books including the Old Testament?

Some say, ‘I don’t like the God of the Old Testament’, and then go on to recite the Apostles Creed.  Are they of two minds?

Our Wednesday Bible Study Group is working through an overview of the Old Testament using material from The Bible Project (https://bibleproject.com/).  Each evening's study, lasting 90 minutes, involves watching a 7-minute short-form, fully animated video.  As the film progresses so the story comes to life with drawing and narration such as the Genesis story below.

If you joined us and wanted to catch up, then you may view the videos privately.

It starts with the basic screen:

 and gradually grows like this:

until we have the full picture:

At the end we look at a few questions that apply the story to our lives.  We might discuss areas of interest but basically get a sound idea of what the book is about and what it means to us today.

‘It [He] Ain't Heavy!’...

..... sang the Hollies, and it’s not.  The idea is to capture just what the book is all about.  Not the finite gory detail but what God is telling us, and there is a lot we need to be told if we are to follow him as his disciples.

So, if you want to know who the ‘Ancient of Days’ is, or why the book of Numbers is so called why not join this very welcoming group on Wednesdays at 7.30pm on Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/649637000 where you will be met in a 'waiting room', or contact Bob Seals on 07966 564963 for more details.
